A little Quiet Time

I am now looking forward to moving more than ever.
My son said we should rename our street, Construction Street, as they knock down house after house and replace it with 2 long narrow queenslander replicas.
So I have about 5 sites all banging nail guns, men shouting, drills going and each of them listening to a different radio station at full volume.

I arrived home this morning after dropping the kids to tennis the dog to the vet (again) and a very unpleasant trip to the shops with my tantrum throwing three year old, feeling a little frazzled.
I made a coffee and opened up my issue of this months Country Style magazine that I managed to grab between screams, and a very appropriate gift was with the magazine.

So to keep my sanity I keep this vision in my head.

Fingers crossed that the plans go through quickly.

Happy Monday

Sofa Tables

Our little man loves to wedge his foot into the frame on the back of our lounge and flip over on
to the cushions.   Fun, but not good for the lounge.
So considering a new lounge for the new house, how can we discourage him from doing this.
Answer, (other methods not working)  -  Sofa tables.
One behind the lounge and one at the end.

Love these from Riviera Maison, also completely in love with the linen lounge.

A lovely sunny Saturday, going to spend it with friends and champagne after a visit to the
Valentino exhibition in Bribane.
Have a sunny weekend.

LOVE fixed windows

I am a little obsessed with fixed window panels above doors.
We will have them above our doors off the living rooms and kitchen at the back of the house and am now conspiring to see where else I can put them without driving hubby and the builder crazy.
 LOVE the internal ones too.
Have fallen in love with the Hamptons style, I guess that's why the queenlanders appeal to me as there are some similarities  in their features.
Now if I can only convince my husband that white slip covers on our lounge would be a good thing.

A few pics from everyones favorite house "Something's gotta Give"

Fixed windows, white slip covers.

Amazing kitchen, more fixed windows.

Love the shelving with the plates.

Next house when I win the lotto.  :-)

Happy Thursday

More Pottery Barn

Looking for some inspiration for the kids play room and bedrooms.
Pottery Barn has some fantastic ideas for storage and even their kids lighting is great.
I want to create a space where they want to hang out both in their play room and their bedrooms.

If only!!!!!

Off to sew.
Have a happy Monday.

Love mirrors

I am on the hunt for some mirrors for the kids bathroom and had something like this in mind.

Don't you wish pottery barn would come to Australia.
If anyone has seen anything like this let me know please.
Or if anyone can suggest a good mirror shop in Brisbane that would be great too.

Some more mirror love.

Here we go!!!

We got the final approval from the bank on Monday.
Signed contracts with the builder and paying him his deposit today.
Hoping that the plans will fly through council and we will start very soon.

Have decided to go with these cute little glass box cupboards above the standard wall cupboards
as we will have 3 meter ceilings in the kitchen.

Just had a little trip to DJ's to pick out a new dinner set, found a lovely pale blue one
from Gordan Ramsey and Royal Doulton, yes I know a funny combination but the range is lovely
and simple in the blue or off white.  I love the shape of the plates.  Could only find a pic of the white.

So while I was there I picked up (on sale) a lovely white soup terrine from Maxwell and Williams to put
up in one of the cupboards. It comes with a lovely ceramic ladle, simple classic.

Sunday Markets

This Sunday I am at Boutique Markets at Portside Wharf, Hamilton.
Let's hope that the morning isn't too chilly, not easy putting up a marque with frozen fingers.

The stall across from me is always tempting me with her lovely things but am trying very hard not to make anymore 'want' purchases until later. Here is a few pics from Our Country Garden.

I can't help but imagine these baskets filled with goodies, lining the shelves of my Butlers Panty.

Have a great Wednesday.

House Inspiration

Briohny from French doors and Verandahs has asked me to share some of our building plans.
In the coming months I will be posting regular updates on the build as well as asking for peoples advice and opinions on the finishings.
Firstly here is a picture of our land in Samford

The bottom pic was taken on a rainy day so a bit foggy.

We are going for a Queenslander style house with a bit of a modern french country influence.
Of course like most builds the budget has already been blown out of the sky so the furnishings
that I had planned may have to go on the back burner for a while along with the pool.

We are waiting this week for the builders contract and have a couple of quotes to get and hope to start in about 4 weeks, fingers crossed.
For now I can share a few of my favorite things that I have put out now others have been boxed away awaiting their new place in the house.

I got this cute little bird cage from Bubba & La in Paddington and the pot and the plant are from Bunnings.  Hope it doesn't die in our icebox we are renting.

I have a passion for these jars and have to stop myself buying them.  Next glass purchase will have to be a beautiful bell jar.
The silver and crystal jug on the left in  an Italian antique / vintage piece that was given to me by my lovely Mother in Law (yes one of the lucky ladies who actually has a wonderful MIL)
She gave me three of them and they were still full of the original port and alcohol from when they were given to her.  They were sitting in the back of he pantry and no one wanted them.. Yes please,
Thankyou.
She gave me some other goodies too which I will post later.

Will try and gather some  plans of the house to post soon.
Off to sew, but right now would rather be here with a Country Style mag and a hot coffee.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
