House Inspiration

Briohny from French doors and Verandahs has asked me to share some of our building plans.
In the coming months I will be posting regular updates on the build as well as asking for peoples advice and opinions on the finishings.
Firstly here is a picture of our land in Samford

The bottom pic was taken on a rainy day so a bit foggy.

We are going for a Queenslander style house with a bit of a modern french country influence.
Of course like most builds the budget has already been blown out of the sky so the furnishings
that I had planned may have to go on the back burner for a while along with the pool.

We are waiting this week for the builders contract and have a couple of quotes to get and hope to start in about 4 weeks, fingers crossed.
For now I can share a few of my favorite things that I have put out now others have been boxed away awaiting their new place in the house.

I got this cute little bird cage from Bubba & La in Paddington and the pot and the plant are from Bunnings.  Hope it doesn't die in our icebox we are renting.

I have a passion for these jars and have to stop myself buying them.  Next glass purchase will have to be a beautiful bell jar.
The silver and crystal jug on the left in  an Italian antique / vintage piece that was given to me by my lovely Mother in Law (yes one of the lucky ladies who actually has a wonderful MIL)
She gave me three of them and they were still full of the original port and alcohol from when they were given to her.  They were sitting in the back of he pantry and no one wanted them.. Yes please,
Thankyou.
She gave me some other goodies too which I will post later.

Will try and gather some  plans of the house to post soon.
Off to sew, but right now would rather be here with a Country Style mag and a hot coffee.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Mxx

  2. Thanks for the update! I love reading how people go about thier building process. Not sure if you intend your blog to be about your build but there sure would be a lot of interested people (me included!). Your block of land looks so incredible! Lush green, beautiful outlook and very large! Your design style sounds beautiful. I can't believe you are not far off starting! You seem so cool, calm and collected about the whole process.
    Thanks again for sharing.

  3. Not sure if cool and calm is how I feel, but am pretty busy with my business to so stops me from obsessing a bit which is a good thing.

  4. Building not far away! How exciting.

And I read my Country Style from cover to cover! Every. Single. Page! I have never done this with a magazine before. But this last issue was fantastic.

Last weekend I even made the steak on mash dish in the cooking pages. Yummmo.

Can not wait to see more of our house process :)

  5. You have a lovely block of land with a great outlook. Have you planned on a fireplace? It gets so chilly at night especially at the bottom of a mountain. I am not far from Dayborough. The bird cage is gorgeous and I too am slightly addicted to apothecary jars! Looking forward to following the build, you must be getting very excited. :-)
